Academy Australia Boi Mela-2008
Ekushe Academy Australia organised their 10th
annual Boi Mela on the 24th of February, 2008 at Ashfield Park, Sydney in ideal
summer weather. The Acting High Commissioner of Bangladesh, Mr. Restadul Islam,
officially inaugurated the mela in front of many distinguished guests, Federal
MP, community leaders and local Bangladeshi community.

Bangla Mela-2008,The
Bangladesh Welfare Society Campbelltown (BWSC) organised a Bangla Mela-2008 at
Campbelltown Sports Centre on the 16th of February, 2008. The mela was opened at
12:30 pm with the hoisting of the Bangladesh National flag by Mr. Nazrul Islam,
Counsellor of the Bangladesh High Commission; the Australian flag by Federal MP
Mr. Chris Hayes; and the BWSC flag by BWSC President, Mr. Nazrul Islam in front
of the mayor, counsellor, dignitaries and many community leaders.

Puja Association Australia celebrated Swarasati Puja on the 17th of feb
2008, at Polish Citizen club at Ashfield. Throughout the day, there was
a special prayer, childrens’ art competition, and a cultural program in

Hasan Passed Away (Inna-lillahe…)Farida
Hasan (Munni), wife of Wasif Ahmed Shubho (son of famous actor Bulbul
Ahmed), had been suffering from
cancer since mid-2005, and passed away today (26th of January) at
5:00am in her own residence in Leumeah. She left behind two children, Shumit (7˝ years old) and Areeba (6 years old). Mrs. Munni was the
youngest sister of Mr Ismail Hasan Badol. She was also a member of
singing group, Oikotan. Her namaje-janaja will
be held after Zahr prayer at the big Lakemba Mosque, after which she
will be buried at Riverstone Cemetery, on Sunday the 27th January 2008.
