SPRING FLOWERS, 2005
On Saturday the 8th of October, dance representatives from the Bangladesh, Sri-Lanka and Indian communities in Sydney preformed at Campbelltown Arts Centre and took part of a multi-cultural spring festival.
Fida Haq had planned and produced an “art attack” through his concept and creation of his alluring flower Mandala. A Mandala is a form of Buddhist artwork that Fida Huq transformed into a piece of art exhibited with flowers and recycled material, representing all the different colours of spring. A large emphasis of the day was the exhibition of Southeast Asian culture and arts. There were yoga classes and Bollywood dance classes for all the community members who happily came to celebrate the exotic cultures through the beautiful season of spring. A major highlight was the different cultural performances form the Bangladeshi, Indian and Sri-Lanken communities. From our own community we displayed a variety of performances, including dances, poetry, and expression of the richness of our culture. We performed Tagor numbers and displayed the talent present within the younger generation of our community. In addition, Akhter Jahan performed along with her singing and musical virtuosi “Shure Jahan”
