Bangladesh-Australia Disaster Relief Committee (BADRC) would like to inform you all that an amount of $11,880 was raised from the dinner held on 3rd February 2008 for the Cyclone victims (SIDR) of Bangladesh. This was one of many intitiatives taken by the BADRC to raise fund for the cyclone victims recently.
The dinner was held at Ambala Function Centre at Milsons Point which was attended by members of Bangladesh as well as wider Australian community.
The chief guest of the dinner was the Shadow Treasurer, Hon. Malcom Turnbull, who made the keynote address. It was a very successful initiatives and raised awareness among the community members who came forward to donate generously for the cyclone victims.
For your information, BADRC previously raised $17,800 for the cyclone victims through various fund raising activities.
BADRC is in consultation now with Bangladesh Embassy (Canberra) and Govt of Bangladesh to construct permanant Cyclone shelter in the affected areas with the fund raised from the Bangladesh Community in Australia.
