Dear All

I am extremely elated to info rm you that the Bangla Prosar Committee had a very successful meeting with the K - 12 Curriculum Director of the NSW Department of Education and Training on 22nd February 2005 . The followings are the outcomes of the meeting:

  1. Saturday School of Community Language (SSCL) will commence running Bangla course from 1st term of 2006 for year 7 - 10 students at Dulwich Hill centre of NSW.
  1. SSCL Principal will circulate the Enrolment Form at the end term 3 this year (2005).
  1. Student enrolment will be finalised at the end of week 4 of term 1, 2006.
  1. The minimum number of enrolled students has to be 10 to start the course. But this minimum number will not facilitate the language to be recognised in HSC level (LOTE). To get the LOTE recognition, the number continually needs to be 30 for at least 2/3 years.
  1. Bangla Syllabus for HSC is nationally recognised and updated in Australia, but it is suspended at the moment. It can be reactivated earliest in 2008 if SSCL students' number sustainably and continually remains 30 or above.
  1. More SSCL centre can be opened depending on the number of students and the availability of the space.
