Architectural Excellence in Bangladesh
The Australian Institute of Architects (AIA) and the Bangladeshi Architects in Australia (BAA) jointly launched a week long Exhibition on “Architectural Excellence in Bangladesh” opened on the 12 August 2008 in Sydney, Australia. The first objective of this event was to introduce Bangladeshi rich architectural heritage and culture to Australian community. The second and most important objective was to create opportunity for Bangladeshi younger architects to introduce themselves or create networking to this bigger Australian architect’s community for their professional future through this exhibition and talk. The BAA has launched a website (www.baa-arch.org) which will work as the critical source of information for not only Bangladeshi Architects living in Australia but all other overseas Architects living or planning to settle in Australia. Many distinguish personalities delivered speeches. Mahboob Hassan Saleh Hon. Acting High Commissioner in Australia, Bangladesh Government delivered a chronological & enlightening speech about architecture and its history in Bangladesh. Farhad Reza hosted the program in a very sophisticated manner. The presence of a number of Australian legendary architects made the event even more prestigious. Among them: Glen Murcutt, Richard Le Plastrier, Peter Stutchbury, and Paul Pholerus. At the end Iftekhar Abdullah President – Bangladeshi Architects in Australia (BAA) thanked the audience for attending.
