Ekushe Academy Australia Boi Mela-2011. Ekushe Academy Australia celebrated their 13th annual Boi Mela on the 20th of February, 2011 at Ashfield Park, Sydney as they do annually. This year mela was bigger than ever. The program began with Probhath ferry around the International Mother Language Day Monument. There were many distinguished guests present at the mela including the chief guest, Bangladesh High Commissioner H.E. Lieutenant General Masud Uddin Chowdhury; Mayor of Canterbury, Robert Furlo; Mrs Virgina Judge, MP and Minister for Department of Fair Trading & Citizen; Mrs. Monika Wangmann, Deputy mayor of Ashfield Council; and Honorary Consul General for Bangladesh, Anthony Khoury;. The number of stalls increased this year in comparison to previous years. During the day, there were many programs and activities, such as speeches, reception for blood donors, reception for HSC high achievers, children’s performances, dances, Natok, recitations, launching of new books. The organisers are very happy with the grand success of this mela and will continue in future.
