ActionAid’s Happy Homes Bangladesh Fundraising Dinner - 2013.
A fund-raising dinner was organised by the Bangladeshi Friends of Action Aid Australia Inc to raise funds for the Action Aid project with the intention of ongoing support for the more disadvantaged and street girls in Bangladesh. The dinner party was held in a prestigious venue at the University of New South Wales Leighton Hall, Sydney on the 24th of February 2013. Tickets were sold out and a large sum of dollars were raised. Former Prime Minister, The Honourable Kevin Rudd MP, Shadow Treasurer, The Honourable Joe Hockey MP, were present as the Principal Guests. There were many distinguished guests present at the dinner including Bangladesh High Commissioner H.E. Lieutenant General Masud Uddin Chowdhury & Mrs. Chowdhury, the honourable Laurie Ferguson MP. The honourable president ACEID, and Farah Kabir, Director ActionAid of Bangladesh. The Honourable John Dowd, David Bitel, Professor Sheikh Rahman and Abdul Hoque greeted and were welcoming all the guests. Mr. Puplick was the MC of the program and skillfully presented the whole program. The Honourable Kevin Rudd MP, The Honourable Joe Hockey MP gave an inspiring speech about the project then the speeches were given by HE Lieutenant General Masud Uddin Chowdhury, Professor Sheikh Rahman, Samira Hoque and other guests. A Q & A discussion panel was hosted by the presenter of the SBS “Insight” Jenny Brockie. During the dinner there was a video screening about the program recorded in Bangladesh. It was an excellent venue for this event, with a high quality sound system and big screens which made the program so much more interesting and enjoyable. There were also two sections cultural/entertainment program. It was a memorable night. The organisers are very happy with the grand success of this event and thanks to the participants and all Bangladeshi communities. It was my great privilege to rally around the program.
