Australia Bangladesh Sports and Cultural Association Night-2016:
Australia Bangladesh Sports and Cultural Association Inc was launched in Sydney on 29 May 2016 with great fanfare and enthusiasm at Conca D’Oro Function Centre, Riverwood in the presence of Bangladeshi cricketers, officials of CNSW, Sydney Thunder, Sydney Sixer, Endeavour Sports School, reputed coaches and umpires and elite of the Bangladesh community by the former Premier of NSW, Mr Morris Iemma at the cricketers night
The two MC Laura and Sumaiya made the opening announcement with the playing of Australian and Bangladesh national anthem. The guest Mr Andrew Jones, CEO of CNSW, Mr Craig McLean, Development Leader of Thunder Region, Hans D Koning of Sydney Thunder, Herman Singh of CNSW, James Kozlowski, Principal of Endeavour Sports High School was introduced to the guest, followed by the sponsors, Marketing Manager of MoneyGram, MD of Kamil Khan Hospitality Group, MD of Kingsgrove Sports, Principal Partner of UBS Accounting were also introduced.
The address of welcome was given by Nasim Samad followed by CEO of NSW and others. All the speakers appreciated that the community cricket has been running for 20 years and lauded the cricketers for the progress made by the community.
The large numbers of members of press crop were present. Mr Anisur Rahman from Bangla-Sydney, Hasan Tariq of Jamuna TV, Rahmaullah of Beedesh Bangla TV, M.A Matin of bideshbangla24, Kazi Simi of Bhorer Kagoj, Abu Reza Arefin of SBS Radio, Sultanul Arefin of RTV, Dr Nargis Banu from Voice of Bangladesh, Abul Awal of Suprovat Sydney, Engr. A Matin of Sydneybashi-Bangla.com, Akidul Islam of Bashbhumi TV.
All teams were presented with an appreciation trophy for their team achievement. This was followed by MoneyGram Special Achiever’s Award which went to Rahid Alam (age 12) of Sydney Shields who is the Captain of Beverly Hills Eagle Club have scored 1079 runs in 20 matches now studying in Endeavour Sports School a Talented Sports Person and have earned many awards in , Under12 (U12) Reps cricket. Tahmid Islam have received award for his outstanding cricketing career as a Michael Clarke scholarship recipient, all-rounder and have played In County Cricket and DPL Tahmid has many nationally and internationally recognised awards His highest score is 128 runs not out, helped his team win against Blacktown. The award was presented by Nidhi Kataria, Marketing Manager, Oceania and Australia of MoneyGram
The Kingsgrove Cricketers Night Award was won by Shirajul Sagar, Best Batsman, Nasir Hossain, Best Bowler, Sayem Sultan, Best All Rounder Sayem Sultan, Best Cricketer Shaikot Saha and the Players Choice went to Labib Mahmud. The youngest player award was given to Rahid Alam of Sydney Shields.
Appreciation plaques were handed over to all sponsors for supporting the community cricket and the sponsor pledged to keep supporting us and requested the community do better and the beacon in the cricketing scene of NSW.
After dinner and the flute recital was played by school girl Liaka. The crowd was waiting eagerly to hear from “The Crew” the number one band in Sydney. The Crew enthralled the audience with their songs and the crowd joined to dance with the tunes. The evening presentation was planned by Monirul Mitul, while all the screen and IT work was done by Masud Khan and Shamim Mostafa. Shoiab Rony and Masrur Ahsan coordinated the guest arrivals and welcoming them.
The day will be remembered by as the perfect launching day of ABSCA Inc, which will be dedicated to the development of sports for the Bangladeshi community.
