A fund-raising dinner was organized by the Rotary Club of the Central Blue Mountains to support the ‘safe custody’ for the more disadvantaged children in Bangladesh . The dinner party was held in a scenic and exotic location at the Skyway Brasserie in the Blue Mountains . Tickets were sold out and $13,000.00 dollars were raised. Natasha and Adrian had already spent few years on this project in Bangladesh (details are in the report). This was a unique cultural evening with authentic Bangladeshi food, cloths, music and everything Bangladeshi. The people behind this event were Shirley, Natasha, Arif Chowdhury and many more. It's good to see that Hridoy (BUET student) who was diagnosed with Blood cancer last year has recovered well after the first round of treatment for 9 months at Singapore Hospital. It is worth mention that more than 1 crore Taka was raised from all over the world including $17,000 from Australia within very short time. I recently visited the Beedesh Bangla TV studio at St. Peters Library where they shoot the show each Sunday and broadcast on Sunday (5:00PM), Tuesday(8:00AM) and Friday(3:30PM) on Channel-31 TVS. There are many people involved who have different roles and they are actively involved in bringing news, current events on community action to the Bengali community.  Photos...

Jamilur Reza Choudhury (JRC) in Sydney

Professor Jamilur Reza Chowdhury (JRC) is a Vice Chancellor of BRAC University, former adviser of the Caretaker Government, ex-BUET professor at Civil Engineering and director of Computer Center. He recently came to Australia to take part in a seminar in Monash University, Melbourne. During his stopover at Sydney, he met with some ex-BUET students and their families at Parramatta Migrant Resource Centre on the 2nd of July, 2006. During the informal meeting, he discussed the current situation of the IT Industry in Bangladesh and other issues of importance such as Private University education standards, earthquakes and flood control as well as answering various questions. It was really nice to see him face to face after such a long time and it really amazes me that he still remembers so many faces, even with right name. During my days as a student at BUET, we all knew him to be a most talented teacher. Photos...
