Ekushe Academy Australia, Boi Mela-2007

Ekushe Academy Australia organised an Ekushe-book fair on the 24th of February at Ashfield Park as they do every year. Ekushe February is a very special occasion for the Bangladeshi community. The 21st of February has been recognised as International Mother Language Day so this day is now well known all over the world. There were many distinguished guests present at the mela including the chief guest, Bangladesh High Commissioner H.E. M. Humyan Kabir. Though there was some rain during the day, the program continued as planned. This year, there were huge crowds and the bookstalls were very busy. During the day there were many programs and activities, such as speeches, performances from musical groups, dances, and poetry recitations. The organisers were very happy with the success of the mela. Photos...
